About this event

Join Ingalls Memorial Library in welcoming local author Eric Poor as he presents his latest, "Virtual Campfire: A Collection of Outdoor Stories." For most of his lifetime, Eric Poor has travelled the woods, waters, and back roads of New England—ice fishing, deer hunting, foraging, hiking, laughing, learning, and collecting stories to share along the way. This book brings together some of his finest outdoor writing: sharp-eyed, warm-hearted, gently philosophical essays drawn from a genuine love for the flora, the fauna, and the people that populate those experiences. Whether he’s rescuing shiners after an icy pratfall, unhooking his cat from a tip-up, dodging curious moose, or trying \(with mixed success\) to outwit some wily gobblers, Poor writes with humor and humility. These are tales of adventure and misadventure, quiet moments, friendship, family rituals, and a celebration of the beauty that infuses these everyday encounters with nature. Like a conversation ‘round a campfire, this book reminds readers to slow down, look closely, and rediscover the wonders of the world beyond their back porch light. This program will be held at the Rindge Meeting House, 6 Payson Hill Road. Bring your lunch if you choose. Copies of the book will be available to purchase.
