Partners form lines and dance a short sequence of steps with their neighbors. Over the course of the dance, each couple travels the length of the line and dances with every other couple. Dancers are welcome to bring a partner or a group of friends but it’s not necessary – traditionally, dancers are encouraged to change partners throughout the evening. Our band Missing Lynx www.fiddlescanlon.com/projects With years of combined experience playing for contra dances, Missing Lynx fills more sonic space than you might expect from a duo. Oliver Scanlon (fiddle, viola, mandolin, feet, vocals) and Alex Fortier (piano, keyboards) blend their talents to drive a dynamic dance engine. Prepare for fresh tunes from a variety of northeast folk repertoires as the duo brings expert execution, tight arrangements, gentle lift and smoothness to your dance! Our caller Hannah Johlas is a contra dance caller and organizer based in western MA. She loves introducing new dancers to the joys of contra, as well as sharing interesting dances with good flow with more experienced crowds. Her number one priority is always that dancers have a great time! We have free admission slots for home baked goods, contact kelly.strauss@gmail.com Facebook Event: www.facebook.com/share/1CdBcdevFN/ The dance takes place in the historic Town House in Peterborough, NH at 1 Grove Street.
