About this event

Thanksgiving is on the menu for our November Hearth Cooking Saturday! See traditional dishes cooked over the open hearth and learn about Thanksgiving in the 1830s from our costumed interpreters. Guests will enjoy samples of the tasty treats prepared on the hearth. In addition, our interpreters will be exploring blacksmithing with a live demonstration on the grounds outside of the house. This program is held in the Phoenix Mill House, a 19th century millworker’s home at the Monadnock Center. Our interpreters, the Prescott Family, share what life was like when the family lived in the house in the 1830s. Hearth Cooking Saturdays are open house programs- drop in for a few minutes or stay longer for learning and conversation around the fire. Admission is free, donations are encouraged. Accessibility The Phoenix Mill House is a circa 1800 home. A high step is required to enter and exit the house and may not be suitable for those with walkers. There is no ramp access.
